My Boy Is Growing Up...

Last summer Ben decided that he would like to get contacts. It drove him crazy that he couldn't wear sunglasses on those bright, sunny days. Well...being the procrastinator that I am, I finally got him to the eye doctor in December. By this time Ben had decided that he no longer wanted the contacts. He was afraid of what the kids at school would say, that they would think he looked "weird". I wasn't content to let him change his mind. I had this gut feeling that once he started wearing contacts, he would love them. He wasn't so sure.

Finally, on our third trip to the eye doctor's office to try to get the contacts in, SUCCESS! It wasn't easy and Ben was so frustrated, but he got them in!

And guess what...he loves them!!

And guess what else...

He can wear sunglasses now!

Can I tell you the little trick that helped me get them easier? I put a handheld mirror on the counter and leaned over it. I don't know why, I'm sure it has some science-y answer, but it was so much easier!

I leaning more and more towards wanting contacts. I can see ok without my glasses so I can wear sunglasses, but I'm finding it harder and harder to see as clearly without them and I get headaches if I go too long without them. I think I'll check out the prices next eye appt. Glad Ben finally got them in and is enjoying them!
