Kiddie Park Fun

Kiddie Park is one of the gems in Bartlesville.  Luke loves it.  I love it.  Our pocketbook loves it.

Since Jon was off work for the week and the weather was amazing, we thought we would take advantage of being able to go to Kiddie Park in the middle of the week.

I was surprised, when we got there, to see how many people were there in the middle of the week.  Thankfully it wasn't as bad as it looked.  Luke never really had to wait in line for any of the rides.

Abby brought Anna along.  This is what happens when I ask to take a picture of these girls.  Lovely!  (Yes, there are a few rides they can still ride.)

Ben wasn't thrilled to spend his evening at Kiddie Park, but I don't think it was quite as bad as he anticipated.

My boys (:

Ben was my hero.  I'm not sure what happened, but a year or two ago Luke became terrified of the train.  I think it was the whistle more than anything.  He absolutely refused to ride the train.  As soon as he heard the whistle start to blow he would cover his ears.  Ben must have bribed Luke just right, because he managed to get Luke back on there this summer.  I'll take it!

I am so thankful to have this fun place in our little town!  As long as Luke doesn't know about Disney World, Kiddie Park is the happiest place on earth!

Kiddie Park!

It was a long, long fall, winter and spring for Luke with Kiddie Park being closed.  Every time we would drive by Kiddie Park Luke would ask if it was open yet.  Unfortunately, when you are are 3 (now 4), you have a very limited concept of time and don't understand that you have to wait months for something to be open again.  Thankfully May finally arrived and Kiddie Park opened again for the season!

Some friends, one of Jon's former co-workers and his family, came down from Independence to have dinner and go to Kiddie Park with us.  (Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of them.)  They have a 3 year old boy who was just as excited as Luke to go Kiddie Park!  They were some pretty excited boys!

Even at (almost) 12 years old, Abby and her friend, Riley, still enjoy Kiddie Park!  I love seeing them be kids!

The best thing about Kiddie Park...
This little guy was completely wore out and fell asleep immediately!

I'm sure this was just our first trip of many to Kiddie Park this year!  It is the happiest place on earth!  Well, in Bartlesville, anyway.  (:

One Last Hurrah At Kiddie Park

As soon as I found out that Kiddie Park would soon be closing for the summer, I knew I had to take Luke one more time! Jon was in South America and Ben had no desire to go, so I headed out with Abby and Luke for one last hurrah at the happiest place in Bartlesville! Obviously everyone with small children had the same idea. The place was packed!

We got in line for Luke's first ride and waited...
and waited...
danced and waited...
We waited in line for 45 minutes!

But it was so worth it! Luke loved the bi-planes!
(They weren't open any other other times we were there this summer, so they were a must tonight!)

The three of us had a super time at Kiddie Park! Luke asks almost daily to go back! If I could only get him to understand that they are closed until next spring... I see many more trips to Kiddie Park in our summer next year! What a fabulous place!

Fun Friday!

Friday morning the guys left on their backpacking trip. The rest of us had a fairly busy day full of
jumping on the trampoline...
and playing in the sandbox.

Friday evening Abby had a softball game. I was happy for Abby to have a game while Grammy and Aunt Becca were here so they could see her play. (She was supposed to have one earlier in the week, but it was cancelled due to severe thunderstorms.)

Apparently the boys weren't interested in watching the game...
Look at these little stinkers! Could they be any cuter?!

After Abby's game our plan was to go to Kiddie Park. The boys had been looking forward to it all week! They talked about it constantly! I have to admit, I was really excited to take them! There's just something about seeing them having so much fun!

Our First Trip To Kiddie Park

I'm not sure why we never made it to Kiddie Park last year, but we didn't. I knew that if we didn't go early in the season that we probably wouldn't make it all again this year.

Kiddie Park is the best place ever! It has been around for over 60 years. Admission is FREE and tickets for the rides are only a quarter! (Most of the rides are only one ticket! A few require two.) We bought $5 worth of tickets and that was plenty for the night! Where else can you go and have so much fun for only $5?

Luke couldn't wait to get on his first ride!

He was a little bit afraid while the ride was going, but he couldn't wait to go on another one!

Luke LOVES trains! We couldn't get him on the train fast enough!
The crazy thing is that once he finally got on the train, he wanted off!
What in the world?!
But he went anyway...And he LOVED it! Talked about it all night long!

I will be quiet and let the pictures speak for themselves.
This is Luke's current version of a smile for the camera.
And this is his current version of a thumbs up.
He kept saying that he wanted to go, "higher, higher".
Kiddie Park isn't too exciting when your 13!
I have never seen an owl outside of a zoo and Jon just happened to spot this one fly into the tree!
It's hard to tell from Luke's sober expressions that he was having fun, but he really was! We had a great time at Kiddie Park! I think I enjoyed watching Luke ride the rides and seeing how much fun he was having just as much as I enjoy riding rides myself! I'm hoping that this breaks Luke into an early love for amusement park rides. Ben and Abby have been afraid and we can't have that! (I love rides SO much!!) We can't wait to spend many more nights at Kiddie Park this summer!
