Finally Finished!

Almost four years ago, Abby informed me that I had made blankets for everyone but her. I felt really bad, so I bought some yarn right away and got started. Shortly after that, I found out that I was pregnant and set out to make a blanket for the new baby. (Terrible, I know!) Somehow Abby's blanket got left behind. I did drag it out a time or two and do a row or two, but I never really set out to finish it. Every now and then Abby would ask me when I was ever going to finish her blanket and I would just say, "I don't know. One of these days." Well, I guess the guilt finally got the best of me and I decided that I was going to finish it for Christmas. I got to work and was really excited about the surprise. I worked on it as often as I could when Abby was at school or after she went to bed at night. I was making great progress until I counted and decided that the blanket was going to turn out smaller than I wanted it to be. Why didn't I count sooner? Who knows?! So...I pulled the whole thing apart. :( I was so close to being done and started all over. I don't remember exactly when I pulled it out and started over, but I do know that it was already into the month of December! I was cutting it a bit close! Especially since the kids got out of school for Christmas break on December 20. I felt a lot of pressure to get it done. Once I decided that I wasn't going to make it, I decided that I would just wrap what I had done and then work really hard to get it finished. (I hated the idea, but went with it anyway.)
Abby was thrilled when she opened the box with her unfinished blanket in it! She didn't even care that it wasn't finished. Just knowing that I was going to get it done made her happy.
Well, you know how often the best of intentions doesn't always work out as planned? I didn't work on the blanket like I had intended. I did, however, break it out over the snow days last week and finally got it done! DONE!!
Abby is thrilled to finally have her blanket that I started over three years ago! (I feel so ashamed!)
I am so glad to finally have the blanket finished and that Abby loves it so much!
